Reception Admissions

If your child was born between 1st September 2016 and 31st August 2017 you can apply for a Reception place for September 2021 when the application round opens in Autumn 2020.

Please Note: Because our school is new, there is a separate application process for the first year only.

The Process

When the application round opens, you will also able to apply for up to three other schools. To do this you must also complete an online form which will be available from schools or by contacting Torbay Student Services.

In the meantime, you can  download and complete our Expression of Interest form (PDF) and we will keep you up to date with all the latest news about St Michael’s and will inform you once the application process opens.

Nursery Admissions

We aim to offer either highly competitive paid child care places, 2 year-old free childcare and 15 hours free early education for all 3 and 4-year-olds, once we open the provision.

For parents/carers interested in a place for their child in our nursery, the deadlines are as follows:

  • Apply by 1st May for a September start
  • Apply by 1st October for a January start
  • Apply by 1st February for an April start

Admissions

Current Policies

St Michael’s C of E Academy is a brand new primary school for children aged 2-11. The academy will open in September 2021 for nursery and reception children in the first year and then continue to grow in size by one Year Group year-on-year, until we have classes in every Year Group, from nursery through to Year 6.  Our founding children will have the unique opportunity to be the first cohort to start their outstanding education in our Reception year.

The policies below detail the admission arrangements for our Academy for 2020 – 2021 and 2021 – 2022 and should be read in conjunction with the Primary and In Year Co-ordinated Schemes and other agreed policies of Devon Local Authority. All policies and procedures seek to comply with the requirements of the School Admissions Code.

We take part in the admissions schemes of Devon County Council which help parents to make applications for admission to school:
