Reception Admissions

If your child was born between 1st September 2015 and 31st August 2016 then you can apply for a Reception place for September 2020 from 1st November 2019 to 15th January 2020.

Please Note: Because our school is new, there is a separate application process for this year only.

If you would like your child to be considered for a reception place, you will need to complete our Application Form 2020-21 and the Supplementary Form 2020-21.  Please return these forms directly to Admissions Officer, Learning Academy Partnership,Suite 4, Zealley House, Greenhill Way, Kingsteignton TQ12 3SB or email to admissions@lapsw.org

The Process

You are also able to apply for up to three other schools before the deadline. To do this you must also complete an online form at www.torbay.gov.uk/schools-and-learning/admissions/ or paper forms are available from schools or by telephoning Torbay Student Services on 01803 208908.

Nursery Admissions

We aim to offer either highly competitive paid child care places, 2 year-old free childcare and 15 hours free early education for all 3 and 4-year-olds.

For parents/carers interested in a place for their child in our nursery, the deadlines are as follows:

  • Apply by 1st May for a September start
  • Apply by 1st October for a January start
  • Apply by 1st February for an April start

Consultation on Draft Admission Polices 2021 – 22

Below is the proposed Admissions Policy for St Michael’s for the academic year 2021-22. The proposed policy is also published by Devon County council at http://devon.cc/schoolpolicy. Until 3rd January 2020 they will be available for parents, other schools and other interested parties to review and comment on as part of Devon’s annual consultation on school admission arrangements. Following this consultation, the Trust will formally determine the policies by 29th February 2020. Final versions will be republished as above, alongside the determined policies for 2021 – 21.

Current Policies

St Michael’s C of E Academy is a brand new primary academy for children aged 2-11. The academy will open in September 2020 for nursery and reception children in the first year and then continue to grow in size by one Year Group year-on-year, until we have classes in every Year Group, from nursery through to Year 6.  Our founding children will have the unique opportunity to be the first cohort to start their outstanding education in our Reception year.

The policy below details the admission arrangements for our Academy for 2020 – 2021 and should be read in conjunction with the Primary and In Year Co-ordinated Schemes and other agreed policies of Devon Local Authority. All policies and procedures seek to comply with the requirements of the School Admissions Code.
