At the Learning Academy Partnership, we want to ensure that we have a profound impact on the future lives of our children so that they have choices and options which will enable them to flourish as they go through life. Quite simply, we put children first in all that we do. We want every child to experience an excellent curriculum which is distinctive to their community and create environments where they are cared for, inspired, challenged, and develop a love of learning.
Our Governors play a crucial role in enriching community relationships and communication and are able to express and act upon local views and issues for their schools. The aim of this role is to support, inform, advise and challenge provision with the aim of improving outcomes for all children in our School Trust.
We are currently looking for Governors to join our Local Ethos & Governance Committees (LEGCs) in several of our Hubs (see below for details). As a Governor you would be expected to attend three Committee meetings per year, with a number of Learning Walks and Monitoring Visits each term (particularly for those who hold a designated role in SEND, PP and Safeguarding).
We want our committees to reflect the communities in which they serve and so welcome applications from all ages and backgrounds – no previous experience is necessary. Please note that an Enhanced DBS and suitability checks will be carried out on all applications.
The role of Governor can be a challenging but rewarding one. It may push you out of your comfort zone at times whilst you get to grips with what may be an unfamiliar sector with unfamiliar terminology but the benefits far outweigh the challenges. Induction, support and training will be provided from the very start of your journey.
If you feel you, or someone you know, would be interested in this opportunity, please contact clerk@lapsw.org indicating which Hub area you would be interested in.
Further information about our School Trust and our schools can be found on our website www.lapsw.co.uk
Our vision is to be an exceptional School Trust. We are committed to social mobility and a culture of belonging. We do this by investing in people enabling every child to be taught by the very best teachers so that we can achieve social change and all children flourish.
The Learning Academy Partnership is governed by a Board of Trustees who are responsible for holding the Trust Lead to account.
Whilst the Board has overall responsibility for our School Trust, our Local Ethos & Governance Committees (LEGC) work in geographical Hubs with groups of schools, and oversee the interests and performance of each school and are made up of Governors from the community, parents and staff.
