The Early Years Foundation Stage makes a crucial contribution to children’s early development and learning. We will provide children with a rich variety of teaching and learning experiences that are appropriate to their needs. The Foundation Stage is all about developing the prime areas of learning: Personal. Social and Emotional Development, Communication and Language and Physical Development. These in turn support the children to achieve well in the specific areas of learning of Literacy and Mathematics.
We offer exciting areas for independent child initiated activities and high quality teaching and learning both indoors and outdoors. Creative development is constantly extended with a variety of art and music opportunities and imaginative play supported by the areas of learning of Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design.
We seek to foster a love of books and have an extensive commitment to teaching early reading, communication and mathematical skills from the very beginning. Much of this earlier learning is achieved through carefully structured play. Young children express their ideas and feelings through play and it is an important way of developing new skills and building up relationships with other children both individually and in groups.
The EYFS curriculum will reflect the same principles whilst reflecting best practice in Early Years learning and pedagogy. Within our Trust we have a strong EYFS provision which is reflected in our outcomes for our children no matter what their starting points.
This first year of school life is so important and we are proud of the provision that is made for children in the Early Years Foundation Stage.
